Philosophy
I believe that everyone is capable of learning. As an educator, it is my responsibility to figure out how to tap into that capability. It is my intention to help my students and colleagues find ways to learn new skills. When I design my lessons, I create them keeping in mind students of all learning abilities. I find that teaching students different techniques and strategies allows them to succeed on their own. This allows them to pass that information on to others. This is true in all subjects, including technology use. For example, I taught my third graders how to teach first graders how to use Google Classroom on their iPads. This also allows them the freedom of choice to display their knowledge. This differentiation allows my students and me to feel successful. Creating differentiated content is a very rewarding process that allows me to reach more students and colleagues.
Hall’s quote resonates with me as I am one that loves to learn and plan to continue learning. I plan to learn to code, so I can create my own material and content. Another goal is learning to use more digital tools and resources to further my skills and creativity. These skills, along with the master’s degree, will provide me the opportunity to explore different avenues within the field of education or in the private sector. The perfect job opportunity would be one that allows me to grow as a designer while learning alongside my colleagues. I believe it is imperative to collaborate with others to grow as an individual designer.
